Bike Trip 5/13/06

you can see usman's post on the details .. here but essentially we did a 32 mile bike ride around the perimeter on manhattan starting at the NJ side of the George Washington Bridge. (unfortuanetly, we couldnt take pictures on the bridge, but it was absolutely gorgeous at 6am)

I wanted to put some of my pics up.. and i guess this is a good place to do it..
i also wanted to whine about my bike a little bit.. cuz i had bought this Mongoose bike the day b4 the trip which was on sale at The Sports Authority. WHAT A DISASTER! my chain kept falling off every mile or so.. without me even changing gears. By the end of the ride the whole gear mechanism had stopped functioning and the wire connecting the gear mechanism to the handle got cut up. Not only that.. but mongoose bikes werent designed with very intelligent handles. They engraved their company logo on to the grasp handles.. which by mile 5 through 32 became permanently engraved on MY HAND! I could understand if i had made the mistake of bringing a mountain bike... but i had knowingly bought a comfort bike designed for long rides. Interestingly enuf.. my ancient mountain bike didnt give me any problems in next weeks bike ride to NYC. Needless to say, i returned that piece of trash minutes after returning from NYC.
